The inaugural ceremony of IIID (Indian Institute of Interior Designers) Delhi centre was held on April 24, 2004 at hotel Crowne Plaza, New Delhi. It has charted out a list of proposed committees to specifically deal with education, WTO, legal aspects, memberships, IT, public relations and events. It has also proposed a total of eight events for the calendar year (April 2004-March 2005), which will be industry specific like lighting, electrical and automation, flooring, building materials, furniture, etc.

The event unfolded with a welcome note by Lipika Sud, secretary, IIID centre, Delhi. During the course of the event some of the prominent Indian interior designers and architects presented their views and ideas on the opening of IIID centre in Delhi. Professor K T Ravindran, chairman of IIID, Delhi, gave away a welcome speech followed by a detailed note by Shrikant Nivasarkar (V P associate, IIID) on the objectives and activities that IIID has on its agenda.

Bakir Baldiwala (immediate past president IIID – national) presented the charter presentation of the event followed by the A/V presentation of IFI congress ‘Design Sutra' by Nitin Killawala, Mumbai's renowned interior designer. The ceremony ended with a vote of thanks by professor Ranjit Mitra, vice chairman (Associate) IIID, Delhi.
